Sports Diver

Course Aim:
To produce a diver who has gained open water diving and diver rescue experience and is considered ready to take part in dives partnered by another diver. Sports Divers are eligible to register for the BSAC Instructor Foundation Course. BSAC Sports Divers are restricted to a maximum depth of 35 metres

Course Details:
The BSAC Sports Diver Course is divided into four elements, lectures will begin at the end of the autumn term, and continue into spring term. Pool and Open Water training will be scheduled during winter and spring terms, allowing you to progress through your training at your own pace. 1. Theory Lessons
ST1 - SPORT DIVING
ST2 - DIVER RESCUE
ST3 - EQUIPMENT AND TECHNIQUES
ST4 - PLANNING FOR DEEPER DIVING
ST5 - AIR PLANNING & SYSTEMS
ST6 - GOING DIVING

2. Sheltered Water Lesson (Pool Training)
SS1 - RESCUE SKILLS

3. Theory Assessment (Multiple Choice Test)
Trainees are all expected to pass the Sports Diver theory assessment before moving on to the Open Water training - don't worry though, if you fail we can always arrange a re-sit!

4. Open Water Dives
SO1 - DIVER RESCUE
SO2 - USE OF SURFACE MARKER BUOY (SMB)
SO3 - SIMULATED DECOMPRESSION DIVE
SO4 - COMPASS NAVIGATION/DSMB DEPLOYMENT
SO5 - DIVE LEADING/BASIC SKILLS REVIEW
